Watch out who you're hanging with!

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

Today the LORD brought me to a really interesting passage!

I've read this passage several times before, but this time, it seemed to SPEAK right to a situation I was dealing with.

Somebody know what I'm talking about!!!

You know, when you read a passage, and it is simply AMAZING how much that passage speaks right into your current circumstance.

It's almost as if, GOD is using HIS Word to console you. HE IS :) !

Here is the passage:

1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore * the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.

Let me make some observations.

Here, GOD is reminding us, in HIS Word, that we must be very careful about who we are Hanging Out With and Receiving Counsel From.

In essence, one could summarize this passage as saying: Hangout with people who Delight in GOD's Word (verse 2), and avoid fellowshipping with people who are hostile to GOD; talk arrogantly; or opposed to HIS will.

Notice I didn't say, don't hangout with scoffers or the wicked. For, that would be impossible!

We are to love the world. Just make an effort to Run With or Fellowship with people who Delight in GOD's Word.

I've highlighted the word "Delight," several times, because, it is so interesting how this word is used in this passage.

Notice, this passage doesn't say to Read, Study, or Memorize GOD's Word, and while all those are Extremely important, the Psalmist wants us to go further and Delight in GOD's Word.

What does that look like for you?

What does it look like to make your time in the Word- Delight? What comes to mind?

Perhaps you can spend sometime writing/journaling your thoughts.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to send me an email, or we can find sometime to Pray together about this.

Roger
